    Yes, BitBob is free to use.

    Cost of performing XRPL transacitons (transaction fees):
    However, please note that standard transaction fees associated with executing transactions on the XRP Ledger may apply. These fees are determined by the XRP Ledger network and are not controlled by BitBob.

    To protect the XRP Ledger from being disrupted by spam and denial-of-service attacks, each transaction must destroy a small amount of XRP. This transaction cost is designed to increase along with the load on the network, making it very expensive to deliberately or inadvertently overload the network.

  • How does BitBob work?

    BitBob (fully free application) allows users to easily and quickly request money from their friends through WhatsApp. The app simplifies the process of splitting bills and requesting payments, making it easy to send payment requests and verify transactions on the XRP Ledger.

  • What is the goal of BitBob?

    The goal of BitBob is to create a user-friendly app for payment request messaging that reaches a wide audience, regardless of age. It aims to simplify the process of splitting bills and requesting payments, making it easier for friends to transact securely.

  • Is BitBob a wallet?

    No, BitBob is not a wallet. It serves as a connecting information layer that facilitates payment request messaging through WhatsApp. It supports decentralized market price determination by gathering the latest decentralized revealed mean XRP/USD price from the Flare Network – Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO).

  • Can I request payments from anyone?

    With BitBob, you can send payment requests to your friends who are also using BitBob and have connected their XRPL addresses. You cannot send payment requests to individuals who are not using the app or have not connected their XRPL addresses.

  • Can I split bills with multiple friends?

    Yes, BitBob allows you to split bills with multiple friends. You can send payment requests to multiple friends at once, specifying the amount each friend needs to pay. Each friend will receive a notification and can easily execute their part of the transaction using BitBob.

  • What is the role of the Flare Network – Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO)?

    The Flare Network – Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) provides decentralized revealed mean XRP/USD price data. BitBob utilizes this information to determine the latest decentralized market prices for XRP/USD. This ensures that accurate and up-to-date exchange rates are used for calculating transaction amounts and providing users with transparent pricing information.

  • Is BitBob available in multiple languages?

    Bitbob is available in 110 languages. You can define your preferred language under Settings -> Preferences menu.

  • Does BitBob have a referral program?

    Currently, BitBob does not have a referral program in place. However, we are constantly exploring opportunities to enhance the BitBob experience for our users, and the introduction of a referral program may be considered in future updates. Stay tuned for any announcements or updates regarding new features and programs.

  • How does BitBob handle scanning bills, invoices, or receipts?

    BitBob allows users to scan bills, invoices, or receipts. The app detects the total amount automatically, and users can perform multiple scans to add up to the total amount. This feature simplifies the process of recording and splitting expenses.

  • What metrics are available in BitBob?

    BitBob provides various metrics sourced from XRP Scan, including transaction history, payment statistics, and user activity. These metrics help users keep track of their transactions and understand their spending patterns. Bitbob does not collect any data from the app, hence the data is fetched directly from the public blockchain XRP Ledger (XRPL), meaning there is full transparancy. All transacitons (see Ledger button -> hyperlink to XRPL Ledger transaction details) contain a Source Tag (SourceTag int29202152 => Bitbob) which is the sole identification of Bitbob utilization / initiated transactions. The content / topic of your payment or request are fully anonymous.

  • How do I create a payment request in BitBob?

    To create a payment request, open the BitBob app, enter the amount, select the friend you want to request payment from, and send the request. The recipient will receive a notification through WhatsApp and can execute the transaction using their XAMAN Wallet.

  • Can I split payments with friends who do not use BitBob?

    Currently, you can only split payments with friends who are also using BitBob and have connected their XRPL addresses. We are working on expanding integration options in future updates.

  • How does BitBob verify transactions on the XRP Ledger?

    BitBob verifies transactions on the XRP Ledger by checking the XRPL addresses and transaction details. This ensures that the funds are securely transferred to the intended recipients.

  • Can I use BitBob for business transactions?

    While BitBob is primarily designed for personal use, you can use it for business transactions as well. The QR Price Tag Creation feature and transaction metrics make it suitable for various payment scenarios.

  • Can I set recurring payment requests in BitBob?

    Recurring payment requests are not currently supported, but we are exploring this feature for future updates to make it easier for users to manage regular payments.

  • Can I use BitBob to donate to charities?

    While BitBob is designed for personal payment requests, you can use it to send donations to charities that accept XRP. Simply create a payment request and specify the charity’s XRPL address.

Security and Privacy

  • How does BitBob ensure the privacy of my transaction data?

    BitBob employs industry-standard security measures to protect user data. All transactions are securely processed through the XRP Ledger, and sensitive information is not stored on our servers (no user or user-device information is stored on our servers, there is no integration at all). We only gather data from the XRP ledger itself and utilize SourceTag int29202152 (Bitbob) to identify Bitbob initiated XRP ledger transactions.

  • Is my personal information secure with BitBob?

    We take the security and privacy of our users’ personal information seriously. BitBob employs industry-standard security measures to protect user data and ensure the confidentiality of personal information. We do not store sensitive user data on our servers, and all transactions are securely processed through the XRP Ledger.

Supported Platforms and Compatibility

  • Can I use BitBob on Android?

    Currently, BitBob is a native iPhone app and is only available on iOS. However, we are actively working on expanding our platform support, and an Android version may become available in the future.

  • Can I integrate BitBob with other payment platforms?

    Currently, BitBob primarily focuses on facilitating payment request messaging through WhatsApp and is by default integrated with Xaman Wallet (formely named Xumm – the number one XRP wallet). Integration with other payment platforms is not supported at the moment. However, we are continuously evaluating opportunities to expand integration options to provide users with more flexibility in choosing their preferred payment methods.

Transaction Details

  • What happens if my friend rejects a payment request?

    If your friend rejects a payment request, the transaction will not be executed, and the requested amount will not be transferred. BitBob allows for easy communication and coordination between friends, ensuring transparency and avoiding any unnecessary transfers.

  • Can I track the status of my payment requests?

    Yes, BitBob provides a status overview of all your payment requests. You can see whether the requests are pending, completed, or rejected, and view details of each transaction. Dashboard overview in Bitbob will indicate the percentage amount settled or due and will indicate warnings if payments is overdue, clicking on a bitbob item in the dashboard allows you to send a reminder to your friend or adjust the amount settled (e.g. if your friend has settled it differently).

Features

  • Can I customize the payment request messages?

    Currently, BitBob uses default payment request messages when sending notifications through WhatsApp. However, we are actively working on adding customization features that will allow you to personalize and customize your payment request messages in future updates. Current active perosonalization: The selected thank you GIF in your preferences will be shown on your friends device after settling the payment request.

  • What is the QR Price Tag Creation feature in BitBob?

    The QR Price Tag Creation feature allows users to generate a QR code for a specific payment amount. This QR code can be shared with friends or displayed on receipts/invoices for easy payment. The recipient can scan the QR code using BitBob to quickly process the payment. This is ideal for merchantes / shop owners or small business. The XRP addresss data embedded in the QR code is your XRPL address (defined under User Settings).

  • Can I view my transaction history in BitBob?

    Yes, you can view your transaction history in BitBob. The app provides detailed records of all your transactions, including dates, amounts, and recipient information.

  • Is there a limit to the number of scans I can perform for a bill or receipt?

    There is a limit of 5 scans you can perform for one payment request. You can scan multiple bills or receipts (5 in total), and BitBob will automatically add up the total amount for you.

Wallet Integration

  • What is XAMAN?

    XAMAN is a wallet application that allows users to securely store, send, and receive XRP. It is one of the wallets supported by BitBob for executing transactions. You can download and install XAMAN from the iOS App Store.

  • What happens if a transaction fails?

    If a transaction fails, BitBob will notify you of the failure and provide details regarding the reason for the failure. This can occur due to various reasons, such as insufficient funds, network issues, or invalid XRPL addresses. BitBob strives to provide users with clear and informative error messages to help resolve any transaction-related issues.

  • How does the Sign-in to XAMAN Wallet process work?

    Users need to sign in to their XAMAN Wallet to settle transactions. The sign-in process is valid for 24 hours, after which users must sign in again to continue settling payment requests or performing payments. This ensures secure and verified transactions.

  • What happens if I forget to sign in to my XAMAN Wallet?

    If you forget to sign in to your XAMAN Wallet, you will be prompted to sign in before you can settle any payment requests or perform transactions. The sign-in is valid for 24 hours to ensure secure transactions.

  • What is the role of the XAMAN Wallet in BitBob transactions?

    The XAMAN Wallet allows users to securely store, send, and receive XRP. It is integrated with BitBob for executing transactions, ensuring that payments are processed securely and efficiently.

XRP Ledger

  • What is XRP and how is it used in BitBob?

    XRP is the native digital asset of the XRPL. In BitBob, XRP is used to settle transactions quickly and efficiently, leveraging the low transaction fees and fast processing times of the XRPL.

  • How are transactions validated on the XRPL?

    Transactions on the XRPL are validated through a consensus mechanism, where validators check and propose transactions to be included in the ledger. Once 80% of trusted validators agree, the transaction is confirmed and added to the ledger​.

  • What is the Unique Node List (UNL) in XRPL?

    The UNL is a list of validators that a node trusts to validate transactions. Each participant in the network selects their own UNL, ensuring a diverse and decentralized validation process

Flare Networks

  • How does Flare enhance the functionality of BitBob?

    By integrating with Flare, BitBob can access decentralized price feeds and other external data securely. This integration supports features like real-time pricing for XRP and other assets, improving user experience and transaction accuracy​ (Flare – The blockchain for data)​.

  • Why is BitBob utilizing Flare Networks?

    BitBob uses Flare Networks to leverage its decentralized data feeds (XRP/USD) to utilize a decentralized determined (by FTSO) for accurate conversions. Therefore Bitbob is not dependent on the price of XRP from a single party instead the global market price of XRP is fetched real-time from the Flare Netowrk from the app itself. There is no data integration with our servers.

  • What is the Data Connector on Flare?

    The Data Connector enables Flare to reach consensus on off-chain events, such as transactions on other blockchains or data from web APIs. This allows smart contracts on Flare to utilize external data securely​.

  • What is the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO)?
